The 51120 FAG is a single direction thrust ball bearing, also known as a ball thrust bearing or axial deep groove ball bearing. It is designed with a shaft ring, housing ring, and ball and cage assembly, making it suitable for high rotational speeds. This open-design bearing allows for axial loading in one direction, providing shaft locking capabilities. It features a shaft ring that rotates with the shaft, while the housing ring has a slightly larger bore diameter to allow for clearance. Although the bearing can be disassembled for easy mounting, care must be taken to avoid mixing up the shaft and housing rings. The housing ring has a flat seat, which means it cannot compensate for misalignment between the shaft and housing.
