The 23 Timken is an outer ring for a single-row tapered roller bearing. When combined with a separately available cone, it forms a complete tapered roller bearing, with conical raceways and roller elements, enabling it to absorb radial and axial forces in one direction. The greater the angle between the outer ring and the bearing’s centerline, the greater its axial load capacity. The separable cone and cup make assembly and adjustment easy while preventing sliding movements and minimizing wear. For reliable operation, it’s best to replace both components at the same time and to use a matching cone from the same manufacturer.
